NIKOL RAFA
Nikol Rafa was born and raised in Athens. She studied biology at the Università degli Studi di Trieste, Italy, specialized in molecular biology where she learned basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
In 2005, after five years of studies, she worked at the Children’s Hospital “Agia Sophia” in Athens and specifically in the hematology department where she trained in matters relating to hereditary disorders of erythrocytes, hemoglobinopathies and iron metabolism.
Then her interest turned to the Epigenetic and the Nutriogenomics science.
Wanting to combine the two fields, she dealt with the Metabolomics Analysis, where she became member of the European Institute of Nutritional Medicine and worked with Metabolomic Medicine continuing her education and training on clinical nutrition in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Today, Nikol Rafa heads the Optimal Health team in Psychiko where Metabolomic Profile and Preventive Nutrition are examined, in order to provide contemporary information and a biological way to get the state of health in our hands, and create a personalized action plan to optimize the organism at all levels.

Why choose Metabolomics
Understanding the biochemical channels that form the whole of human metabolism is one of the greatest achievements of research in the biological sciences in the last 100 years. This knowledge was the basis for improving people’s health in the 20th century. In the field of metabolomics, we detect the metabolites (metavoloma) and this is a tremendous force for the diagnosis and understanding of the pathogenesis of many diseases.
The metavoloma represents a vast number of substances, which vary greatly in terms of the compound classes they belong to, such as amino acids, lipids, organic acids, nucleotides etc. In order to maintain peopl’s good health, all metabolic channels should work well and the metabolic needs should be balanced by the nutritional imputs. More and more people develop illnesses because of unbalanced metabolism such as atherosclerosis, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and cancer.
The metabolomics analysis represents the actual dynamic functioning of the body and has become increasingly popular in the study of disease phenotypes and molecular pathophysiology. The science of metabolomics of today carries the responsibility to provide a detailed description of human channels and their function and constitutes a valid and innovative instrument for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Through the Metabolomics analysis one can get the health situation in his/her hands!!
Optimal health represents the highest achievement in the life of the individual and does not only mean keeping away the disease. Health related to the physical, emotional, spiritual and social harmony achieved by a balanced life. To obtain excellent health one must take into account his/her diet, stress, hormonal balance, environmental factors, family history and his/her way of life!
Whenever our body is sick or not working properly, we experience discomfort, fatigue, drowsiness and in many cases fear or depression. Feelings and situations in everyday life that many of us are accustomed to, which nevertheless, are decreasing our quality of life. Those go away only when we regain our health and vitality in every day life.
At Optimal Health we provide modern knowledge and guidance of biology to take control of health in your hands, and we create a personalized action plan to optimize the organism at all levels.
Stress, illness, medications, genetics, nutrition, quality of thinking and lifestyle are factors that will shift your chemistry either towards health or disease. Pressing upon the knowledge of epigenetics, human nutrition, anti-aging and having as a tool to investigate metabolomics analysis, we can achieve excellent results.
The science of aging involves the use of all aspects of human physiology, including the discoveries of modern genetics, nutrition and hormone balance.
The goal of Optimal Health is training and providing knowledge on humans to a lifestyle that will allow the preservation, prevention or improvement of good health and longevity.
